InStep is an Austin original: a locally owned comfort shoe boutique that is striving to be your favorite place to buy your favorite shoes!In the beginning...we started in 1993 offering only Birkenstock sandals, Birkenstock insoles and Birkenstock repairs.
We grew a little, along with Austin...over the years we added to our selection of insoles and orthotics, began hand crafting our own insoles and orthotics and filling doctor's prescriptions for footwear and insoles. We expanded our selection of sandals and shoes to include many comfort shoe brands.
Now...we are proud to be a resource for physicians, podiatrists and Central Texans seeking relief from foot pain, healthy footwear and just plain comfortable shoes that fit the needs of Austin's healthy and active lifestyle.
What can you expect from InStep? Knowledgeable, friendly, well-trained staff who have broad experience wearing the shoes we sell. We have a Certified Pedorthist on staff, available for consultation and prescription needs.
We sell the best footwear for your feet and your body and our Custom Footcare Services department can make custom orthotics or modify footwear and orthotics to meet your needs.
We don't forget you want to look Good! Most of our shoes don't look like the shoes you see everywhere else. They look better! They look better because that are gently shaped to mimic the shape of a healthy foot. They look better because of the attention to detail. They look better because they are designed to accomodate your prescription orthotic AND your foot at the same time.
We are a member of the Austin Independant Business Alliance and encourage you to shop locally to support your neighbors!
InStep has a location in Central Austin and North Austin.
InStep is open 10 am - 6 pm Monday - Saturday and by appointment.
Like you, all of us at InStep are trying to reduce our personal and our businesses impact on the planet. We recycle our paper, cardboard, plastic and glass waste. We have cloth towels available in our restrooms. We combine shipments from our vendors and try to place larger, less frequent orders. We are a member of Austin Energy's Greenchoice program. We also collect used shoes to be recycled to people in need around the country and across the globe. We aren't close to doing enough yet, if you have an idea to help us improve, please share it with us.
